Yes, nothing is ever simple right?
That's one reason I got the summit exhaust, I knew I'd have to cut and weld a bit anyway and at less than $200 complete (£100) I could afford it!!

Hopefully it will be less effort than you currently think!

I have been a right miserable sod since I had a set-back in my health a month ago. It seems like everything lately is one step forward and two steps back. It is getting to me a bit.
I just wish ONE little thing would work out easier or better than expected rather than harder or worse. It is getting harder and harder to keep picking myself up. At work too. Not just this stuff.
If I don't get this car running this summer I am giving up. Seriously. Maybe downsize the house and give up work too. Get out of this constant struggle.

Before I gave up last night I was thinking I might be able to just cut out and change the length of several of the straight sections. If so it might not be to bad....

But I have said that before.

Steady on Dave, I know it gets frustrating but if you zoom out I think you have made pretty good progress on your car really!!
My car has been off the road for so long I'm forgetting what driving it was like

. But one thing is for sure....it will be finished and I'll do whatever it takes to get there.
So you are doing well, you will get this sorted and be on to the next step. I have no doubt you will get it back on the road and not give up

yep you are gettin a miserable old sod,
just think once you have got the car finished you can relish drivin it lovin all the creak,s rattles, jumpin sideways at pot holes, Bananarama! yerself about oil pressure and water temp, etc but be happy knowin you tried yer best to update the car,
but really know you would have done better buyin a nice fast , comfortable modern car, saved all that blood sweat and misery, gone out with diana more, not lost the last 5 yrs scragin about the garage floor,, and been lovin drivin the hellouta that modern quick smooth newer mtr,

You know what?

I just actually had some good news for the first time in two years.

My wife Diana has managed to get a different job in the I.R. so she has now got job security (her current office is to close) and has avoided an expensive transfer to Sunderland that would have been a nightmare to commute to every day.
It would have been the last nail in the coffin for the Challenger too as we would need another car.

Not only that but it is at the office 5 mins walk from our front door so no traveling expenses at all and Billy-Dog gets a longer walk every lunchtime!

Something to be happy about at last!

Dave, I know you don't have time for Bull, but what you have done with that car, under your own personal circumstances is a bloody miracle, you can't let a bunch of metal pipes get you down!

Relax take a deep breath and fix it, we all know you can and when that bay's finished it will probably be one of the best driving Es out there.

That's why i spend more of my precious spare time on the car than i do on the site.
I work on cars all day, the passion i have is sometimes exhausting but you have to have a goal and mine is to use the car and not be spending money and time on it witch we don't have.
My 3inch EX pipe would have hit the G/V but i was lucky that the 400 block dropped it down enough for some clearance.
Just keep at it, with what you got if your budget is tight. personally i love making exhaust systems up

Thanks Alan.

Mine needs more than a slight drop as the pipes run almost alongside each other right where the GV is.

So I have to make the pipes run wider either side of it.

I made a start this afternoon but it felt odd cutting a brand new exhaust system up into little bits.

Although I have the ballance pipe together in the photo below (so that they will line up when I weld it) they actually need to be seperated and an extra length of 2.5" pipe welded in.
Since I don't have a bit of 2.5 pipe handy it will have to wait a few days until I can find a scrap bit somewhere.

I am going to have to drop the mufflers about a half inch for the pipes to clear the prop loop and because that will then lower the tail pipe I will have to cut a section out of that too so that the tips fit in the vallance cut-outs correctly.

Not easy work when you suffer fatigue easily but it has to be done.

Sorry to everyone for me getting stressed about it. Adam is right. I should just shut up and get on with things.
