I'll bet that's a relief for you. It looks just right after all that worry and effort :thumbright: Is that the last major job?

Top work dave, very impressed with the clearance on those exhausts and the tail pipes look bang on.

Now, have a rest and a cuppa tea! :thumbright:

Just had a bit of lunch and a Bud. :thumbright:

I am not 100% happy with the exhaust. I had to twist the left side down a bit to clear the speedo cable. That lowered the cut-out that side as well as the front of the left muffler.

Ground clearence is an issue with my car because it rides quite low. I have had to drop the mufflers a lot lower than they should be anyway because of the rearward position of my prop safety loop. My prop is 14 inches shorter than stock because of the GV unit.
The result is that I will have to avoid speed bumps or the front edge of the mufflers will catch.

Knew I should have fitted 60 series on the rear instead of 50 series.

I have been trying to come up with ways to make the electrical components look more presentable or "race".

I think I have settled on this idea which is a bit of scrap plate I knocked together this afternoon.
I am thinking to bring the wires in through the inner fender behind the plate and then through the plate to the components.

The relay box will hold the two relays for the headlights and one relay for the radiator fan. Then I have the starter relay (needs cleaning) and a 50amp fuse which is my main fuse.
I also need to find and mount the circuit breaker for the radiator fan but I can't put my hand on that at the moment.

Is there anything I have forgotten? I can't think of anything but I have a feeling there should be something else on there too?

I need to fit the fenders to work out cable lengths etc so I thought i would do these few jobs that are easier to do with the fenders off.

How were the bumper brackets held on on these cars? Bolts in captive nuts or welded in studs or something?

I ask because mine were a couple of bolts through the chassis rain and a couple of bolts tack welded in place. Obviously not stock.

I decided tonight to weld nuts in the holes and am going to use old intake manifold bolts with big washers to hold the brackets on.

But I was wondering how the factory did it? :?

What? The starter relay? It isn't finished yet! It is just there so I can work out where to drill holes.

I am going to clean that up shortly. If it won't clean up it will be replaced. ;)

I don't even have the hinge fitted to the bottom of the plate in that photo which allows the plate to drop forward so I can route the wires easily behind it.

I am 3/4s of the way to getting that drivers side front fender on as I write. Once that is done i will clean that relay up just to please you Pete. :D

the way you have the bumper bracket bolts in is identical to how the factory ones would have looked , just captive nuts on the inside of the chassis thats how mine are anyway ;)
