There is no "wiring". There is a BIG power cable that feeds it, and a smaller power wire that activates the solenoid.

If the solenoid functions then there is power to it, and you should see it move the pinion if it is out of the bell housing. As said, you can "replace" the power feed with a jump lead, plus another one to earth, and all should function.

I know the Motor works because I hooked two jump leads to it from the Battery.

I got the Wife to turn the motor over whilst I was under the car and all that happens is the Solinoid throws the Pinion gear out. bloody frustraiting I can tell ya!

OK, who wants to slap me? Form an orderly que now!

Turns out the problem was the Positive Cable Terminal on the Battery! It all looks good, tight and clean from the outside but when I opened it up it was heavily corroded! I had a spare new one, changed it out and hey presto! My engine now starts again!

I know, I know! But it did look nice and clean and tight. I gave it a good yank and it was solid and uncorroded too. But when I opened it up it was very oxidised. The strands where still solid though. But I just chopped off 2" and made a fresh termination.

Its a new one for me. I'll never underestimate the power of corrosion! :D

big splat of Vaseline or dielectric grease on the battery connectors please and each end of your earth straps.

and the point where the regulator bolts to the body clean it spiky washer bolt it and splat it.

it works wonders...suddenly the car goes properly again
