Well I've just finished the engine and its all ready to go back into the car tomorrow with John and Derek's help.

I'll get bacon sarnies on the way to my car.

So here are the results of all the work over the last week.
John the door to my garage is ten foot tall so we should be ok.

John arrived at my house at 7.30am this morning and we loaded the engine with his hiab truck and then made our way to the car and once we were there we reinstalled the motor and started to reconnect all the components. John and Derek both helped me and in no time it was ready to fire. Once it fired we turned up the idle and let it rev for 20mins to brake-in the cam,we also set the total timing to 34. once the cam was broken in we put the wheels on and took the car for a spin and OMG what a difference the car will now spin the wheels in the dry on put away and a added bonus the manifold vacuum it higher which has improved my brakes dramatically. All in all the engine idle lovely and also revs freely and responsively. I cant believe the difference now it just shows how worn my old engine was. I would like to thank John, Scott and Derek for all their help with my very quick engine rebuild.

Cant wait to take the car for a drive now and see what it can really do.

Hopefully Derek will put some pictures up of today as my camera wouldn't work so he took a few and a video of the running in.

Nice New Bits

Post by ANTON »

As alot of the people who know me will know that I am in the process of building a Hot 318. When I arrived home last night I had a large delivery from the States via Neil at USA Imports of all the items needed to build my new engine. I like to thank Neil for all his help in shipping the parts for me.Know that all the parts have arrived I can start all the machining work on the block and heads and eventually I will start assembly. I will keep this tread updated as I build the engine.

Home made Center console

Post by ANTON »

My charger is a bench seat car so I have been getting tired of every thing sliding around on the front seats so I decided to build my own center console as I didn't want to lose my fold down arm rest. Here are a few pictures of the results of my efforts. The doors are walnut to match the steering wheel.
