For the new engine I needed and new carb and as luck would have it Blue was selling alot of carb so I brought a Double pumper off him. It need a rebuild so stripped last weekend and left it soaking in de-greaser for the last week and it came up lovely. I need a rebuild kit so I call around and found that they were quite expensive(£72 with-out the VAT and postage) so I looked for a AED rebuild kit (recommended by Blue) in the states and found one for $40 and $15 postage and it arrived today and I rebuilt the carb and attached the fuel line I got off Dustymopar and now its ready to roll.

Looking good Anton - you said earlier that you were worried that you would have a lot of bits left over from the rebuild kit - did you

Nothing to worry about there, AED kits come fully loaded and more ;)

A few o-rings and gaskets and one power valve so not too bad.
The power valve that was in the carb when I got it from Blue was a 65 so if the 45 is too small and can go for that one.
Dustymopar do you have any jet laying around to take the carb back to standard , at the moment it has 70 and 81 jets in it.

I do have some jets laying around - I will take a look and let you know what I have. Failing that, I will send you a selection of sizes from my own personal stash and you can work out what works for you ;)

My set-ups (too many carbs here  ) are there or there abouts so you are welcome to borrow them :thumbright:

Anton, I have sorted out a small selection jets for your carb - I struggled a bit but you should be able to get it close with what I am sending.

Please PM your address and I'll get them out to you tomorrow :thumbright:

A good starting point would be 70pri/78 sec with a 6.5 PV , fine tune PV rating for cruise vac , i would imagine you will end up using an 8.5 PV.......
you sticking with the two corner idle? :atthemovies: :D

I gather from you statement I can change to 4 corner idle so I may have to do that at a later date.
Thanks for the setting. At the moment my settings are 71pri/80sec with 28 front shooter and 31 rear shooter with a 6.5 power valve and two 50cc accelerator pumps. I need to see what engine vacuum my new engine will make and the I can tune the power valve, I think my vacuum may be a bit low so I may have to go to a 4.5 power valve. Any advice will be welcome.

Its a 650 isn't it? These came with 67 / 76 that seems an odd split. Have tried to include jets around this and would be interested to see where you end up? Can't see that the motor will need the 4.5 PV, but then only the motor will tell you ;)

Yes Dustymopar it is a 650DP
I have a set of 71 and 80 as that is what is in the carb at the moment. Thank for the help Mark.

I was only messin with you Anton ;) , considering the work involved changing out to a four corner idle it would'nt be worth it ie: drilling throttle body , changing metering block , modifying base plate...............you'll be fine with what you've got , i just like to have control regards idle mixture tuning when messing with aftermarket parts.

After finding out I had a problem with my cylinder heads having too larger chambers I have had to source nail head valves in order to reduce chamber cc. I ordered them last Monday and had them Fedex over and they arrived today so now I can install them and cc the heads and then have them skimmed and hopefully I will be back on track which getting this engine complete. The only disappointing thing is that due to a few delays I don't think it will be done for the Nats.

what valves you go for and where did you get em

i'm looking fior a thin 1 stem 1 piece inlet about 5 inches long and head of 1.96-2.02 inches

and an exhaust of similar length with a head of 1.6

the choice is massive and i don't want to go off half cocked as it were
