What is it with these goons in the snow? There should be a special test before they're allowed out

[quote]I couldn't find a tow hitch on the Remault I could use. It had some sort of square hole? So I slung a rope around one rear shock, told them to steer as best they could, and I dragged the bar steward sideways with the Jeep for three blocks and around several turns to a main road.
I think they were freaking out a bit in the car as it swung around behind me ploughing the road.
nice one

I had to be careful they didn't swing into parked cars. But it did make me smile to myself. I think i must have had my evil Dave head on.Charger wrote:that's as funny as F... I had to drive to the local Co-Op this morning to get some bread and milk and there were big piles of snow here and there from their car ploughing it all up as I dragged it backwards/sideways. So I used the jeep to flatten out the piles so my neighbors wouldn't have to drive around them.
abandoned my car almost @ work, walked the rest of the way this morning , had to go recover a broken down subaru with my truck.
Last night the snow caused the electric fence to short out @2am & set the alarm off, phoneing us in turn, i never heard it, buy my pals YTS kid did, went into work, got stuck in the snow, had no credit on his phone & could not work the telephone sytem to get an outside line in my office so then walked in heavy snow fall from bedlington to morpeth some 4 miles on deserted county roads
poor kid then was back @ work for 9am !!!

Good point Drew. The small cars here struggle because they have little weight.
But honestly. I have driven Minis and a Hillman Imp in snow as bad as this and worse and I have never had to abandon a car or get help. I used to take a shovel with me just in case and needed it once with the Imp as it bottomed out easily.

People just don't know how to drive anymore - snow here is relatively infrequent and they are never taught how to manage the conditions. The obsession with Low profile tyres does not help, either.Dave wrote:Good point Drew. The small cars here struggle because they have little weight....
I the 80's I drove an XR2 and commuted in snow with no issues. Mind you, I was stupid enough to do it on a motorbike as well........
I'll stick to my planet-killing 4x4 with lockable diffs and all terrain tyres for now
