Will be interesting to see how it performs. Is it delivered dry?
Roger, here's the 'instruction' sheet that came with the battery, in case it's of any interest......

'stock'.... :-k

No worries Ash, only jesting :)

Dont think ours would stand up to any fettling anyway, they've just been repaired; crack & holes welded, courtesy of Wing Co Hawkins / Jon Benn & Frank 'the welder' :notworthy:

We knew one was cracked but Frank crack tested both manifolds and confirmed just the one needed repairing. And as is often the case with cast iron, the more he welded, the more it fell apart, but managed to get it done with good penetration  (you can feel a slight raised area inside the port).
He also removed the nuts & bolts that had been roughly welded in place, thru the holes at the collector end of one manifold (heater flap?)

I had a nervous go at grinding the weld down with a grinding disc and a die grinder to clean up inside the port and inside the collector, where the grub/set screw had been welded in - just hope it's still crack-free!! [-o<

May get them blasted if we can but either way will paint them with some cast iron grey we have. Just need to find somewhere strong enough to hang them from....

After welding, before clean-up

They might not pass any concourse judged event but as long as the crack's repaired we'll be happy. Most of that welding & grinding wont be visible when fitted anyway.
Mind you, in one or two of those pics, the bit i thought was just a bit of a crevice where the weld meets the parent metal, looks a decidedly dodgy :?
We were going to do the same 'poor some thinners into the port and see if it seeps thru to the outside' trick when theyre painted anyway.

Fingers crossed....

Spent a few hours today trying to get the console & shifter bracket positions finallised, so we can get the trans up & out of the way.

Had to slot the holes we'd already put in the brackets (they come undrilled, either for drilling yerself or welding) and managed to get it almost sorted before the end of play. Not far off now tho

Sorry to disappoint, Ash (from a SAMS point of view!), no, we've just given it a freshen-up so generally the same as it was when 1st built back in the last century
Priority is/was to keep it as useable as poss so still has the same 'purple shaft' hydraulic cam & 10.2:1 comp, but with some different rockers to liven it up a tad.

I'll post more info (& pics, natch) when we get it back.....

I wish, Al

High 12's maybe. It's run 13.6 @ 106 so there should be a 12 in there somewhere, with a bit of a launch.
Same old story
