Last weekend I also decided to restore the steering column so I completely dismantled it and painted all the bit and the put it back together. I also grease all the relevant areas and the two bearing so it should work better than ever.

I got a very welcome call today from the powder coater to say that all my bit were done so I was very eager to finish work and get down there to collect my stuff. I only dropped them off on Tuesday morning and was very surprised that all was done.
When I got home I un-wrapped every thing to check the quality and to make sure everything was there and I was totally impressed as usual.
Now the fun of putting it all back together can start and I can't wait to see it all in the engine bay.
The air filter, thermostat housing and the plug wire separators are texture black to match the rocker cover and all the rest is gloss black.

If anyone need any powder coating done at very good price then get in touch with Richard at Willow Stove Enamelers (0208 646 7169).
He can bead blasts,strip and clean all items and he have a large enough oven to take a whole chassis.

Why do you say that?
I do more than my fair share of looking after the kids and help around the house more than I should as I work and she stays at home.
The way I do what I do is I get to work at 6am and work on my bits till 7.30am and then I start work and the i get in the garage on the weekend for a few hours here and there. I started on cleaning the parts before Christmas and I only finished last weekend. If I had my way the car would be back together already as I would spend very weekend in the garage(12 hours a day) and every evening after work but then i wouldn't be married so I have to compromise. By the way I work really fast just ask anyone who knows me.
My wife only gets annoyed if there is evidence left of "car parts in the kitchen" type action
and by evidence left
i'm mean the area where i was working was returned to spotless
but everything i touched whilst doing the work outside of the area i.e all the stuff i did absentmindedly, is covered in oily prints
light switch, inside of each draw handle and the handle on the fridge door
you can't see it.... but you find it, or it is found later, and often by someone who is part way through folding the ironing...... ahhh
you know the bits you forget about or do on autopilot, leaving evidence you are blind to...cos i'm just cleaning this stuff up on the drianer over here.
2 visits to the fridge to get the kids yoghurts and juice
putting the kettle on...
4 digestive biccies, so the packs got thumb prints and so does the door to the cupboard.
drying your hands on the tea towel after washing to do something for somone else, but before the application of swafega, cos you haven't finished the car bits yet
thumbprint in the middle of the next sheet of kitchen towel where you picked it up to rip off a few bits to tidy up a mishap.....
leave the kitchen, arms full of nice clean parts with a certain proud arrogance assocaited with your ability not to cause the mess everyone said you would......ha
only to be confonted with evidence to the contrary on your return from the depths of the garage and shed
as expected I've had to do it myself....blaa blaa, 2 kids...! should'nt have to clean up after the 3rd blaa...blaa blaa

do ya fancy a curry or I'll make the tea.... doesn't always end the discussion.
but
at least i didn't kick over a can of yellow paint on the front room carpet....might....

I've build numerous motorcycle engine in the front room while watching TV with my wife. I did it before we meet and I did it while we were dating so she is use to it.
My wife prefers me to be there than out and about in the pub or at the garage where the car is.
When I still lived with my Mom she used to let me bring by motorbikes into the front room to restore them over the winter and she would just step around it or ask me to move it so she could see the TV. Maybe that's why i don't see any thing wrong with my actions. I blame my Mom
