If it is the rear bearing I may be able to get hold of one locally, it's a Timken 308. Not sure if I could pull the gearbox, rebuild it and refit it in a day though. Not as young as I used to be.

I have discussed this issue with Santa Pod Raceway. It looks like it is possible to state on entry that you only want to be there for the day, pay full entry and claim a refund for the difference on the way out.
'Just received confirmation from Santa Pod........
"No problem with the Friday day tickets – it will run as suggested, pay the full weekend and have the difference refunded as they leave but they must be out by 7pm to do this."
Drained the gearbox oil this morning and there was a gear tooth stuck to the magnetic drain plug. Pulled the gearbox and there's two teeth broken off the cluster gear. Third gear feels a bit sharp and it locks up when it reaches the broken teeth. Guess that was the knocking.
