Hi, if you enjoy it your not wasting your money, however you gotta be realistic and realize that with that weight its never gonna be a low 12 sec car? and be streetable n/a, saying that and without any knowledge of what engine etc you have...13.0 sounds ok on streets and the weight.starsk's wrote:Hi

Impress you guys ? 12 seconds has to be good for over 2 .7 ton car can I have some pro feed back or am I wasting my dosh ? Started out at 18 seconds ? I love racing my car and I realise she is starsky car but I look at others with less weight she doing great ! Please some tips would help x I'm getting 1.8 60 ft for 13.08 and have tuned her with new carb 49 bhp more , getting 13.3 not getting great off line by end of weekend getting 1.9 60 ft slowing at top do I need slicks ?going to try out kiwi slicks at hot rod drags (yes not asking this year f them counted 15 hrd at nats this year !!! ) any tips from you guys gratefully recieved

Sounds to me like that extra 49hp you say you got with that carb is slowing you down with more wheelspin at the start than you had, and also you seem to be running out of puff at top end from what you say...that could be a jetting issue amongst other things like ignition?
Slicks..well, yes, thats the way to go however your motor/carb/ignition has gotta be right with more fuelshot from the carb shooters on WOT or you could bog her off the line and go slower, get all that right and I can't see why you can't go into the 12's.
Hope this help some?
Les
2.7 tons is about the weight of a small battleship, a Torino of that year is normally between 3600 and 4100 lbs , also 49 hp from a carb change seems a hell of a lot, it must have been very undercarbed.
Les is right about everything else, put slicks on a heavy car with no converter and it will fall flat on it's face. Ask me how i know
