Post from the V.P. Desert

Post by drewcrane »

Just wanted to post up here just to let you all know waht is up, we have had an amazing experience here and bit of disappointmen, but Ialways say "expect the unexpected"

we are 5 days in to our trip and about 1000 miles we are in Page arizona about 4 hours from the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

everything was good until Inoticed a clicking in my rear diff, just rebuilt and we most likely have a bearing failure dud to bad quality control from Timkin, perhaps they are using old tin cans from China for steel because the builder has had 3 diffs with new bearings go bad with in 1000 miles .

Luckily I have a couple of locals that joined us with their Petty blue 73 challly.

Phil and John offered their diff from their car (same 3:23 ratio).

We are right smack in the m iddle of Navajo nation ,we were able to borrow 2 service bays at a local petrol station, and the swap began it took about 3 hours .

since the diff is limping along Phil decided to nurse his 73 back to a mates house about 200 miles from here and from there he will get the car home allowing me to continue the trip although delayed we can get get back on schedule hope fully by the end of today.

the internet is really slow here for uploading so no pix yet but I will post up when iget home because we have some just amazing shots of this beautiful area places Like Moab,Utah, arches, natural bridges,,Monument valley,to many to list,as well as an amazing discovery.......we found the bridge/road used for the Jag crash, all washed out many years ago and we have 2 dvd players so we had to use the horizon for reference....and we have it took the better part of the day to figure it out but we did in fact conclude this is the place we have photo and vid documents and Iwill post those up later also...............well we must now get our duo of black chally s on the road ...........Grand Canyon here we come :thumbright:

Cool! Really surprised to see Matt Lucas getting his hands dirty, perhaps he was the only 8 3/4" specialist in the village.....

Ok fill me in who is Matt Lucas? clearly Iam missing something................but check out this pic from Antelope canyon,I can really use the over used YANK word(A waitress asked Roland if he wanted more tea he said yes and she said awesome),is a great word to use for this place, AWESOME

We also visited the big boy of canyons,,I always wanted to visit Grand Canyon another awesome place, but Iam a bit more impressed with a narrow canyon like this due to the way it looks ,like an underwater reef except in orange ,red abstract shapes Iam really going to have to go back because there 2 parts to this canyon and this is the south end hope yall like this :thumbright:

we have a good connection at this location in Kanab Utah just 30 miles from the North end of the Grand Canyon,Arizona,Iwill try to post more but it is late and we have Zion National park tomorrow so Ishould get some sleep....truly an amazing trip so far ans we have 10 days laft so stay tune if interweb permits ;)
