So i was worried about ripping a key due to driving a supercharger so thanks to Dave Robson idea i drilled and pinned the crank/Damper

I got a sfi damper of a standard thickness *thanks adrian*

No alignment tools here just Stella and luck

came out perfect

8mm pin 25mm deep enough for me

Dash install

I had a dream of a full blacked out dash and when you switch on all the gauges shine through

Made a wooden mould with MDF and flexible ply cut a whole for a ipad this will be music vid nav and MMA on the go !

I then took a sheet of dark tinted Perspex

If heat is a applied to Perspex it will bend

But just how much heat

To bend it you need the plastic to be around 170c

This was a foil lined box with 3 house hold blow fires in it 6Kw total

This got the sheet to 48c Fail

Mk 2 Heater bender

This was a board with Nichrome wire >heating element wire< strang between nails. This was very dangerous and you should not try it.
I had to play with series & parallel configuration too high a resistance it was not hot enough. Too low a resistance and the wire would explode and weld to your face. This did get very hot but did not heat the sheet uniformly.
This had a 60amp drain

Any there was a few trouser moments

Fail.

Mk 3 Heater Bender

This seem to have done the trick.

My problem now is that the power cable coming from the street is very long all the heat guns together pull 80amp this is turning the 230V coming into my house into 173V and the lights not like it.

This is just a test sheet waiting for more plastic to arrive to do the final dash.

Great idea. Love the thought of getting into a car and its just a plain uniform dash with nothing showing. Like the tablet in the center.

Only personal opinion, but not a fan of the tablet electro gauges. I'd go with normal autometer gauges but heavily backlit inside the housing, so when its lit up through the perspex, you can only see the needle and markers (none of the surround).

Think that could look the dogs if it comes out as good as it looks in mhy tiny little mind!

Would also help in event of failiure. If the tablet goes then your flying blind so to speak!

MAGIC STUFF WILL BUT WHY HAVE YOU HAD TO BEND IT UNDER THE DASH I DONT REALLY GET THAT A SLIGHT CURVE ON THE FRONT TO MATCH FRAME BUT CUT OFF LEVEL AT THE BOTTOM ???

check pic below duncan would have had to chop up a good dash frame and steering column clearance and R Runner would not like that

I have tryed to do one thing on this whole build and thats been to not cut it up.

I have manage to do this with out drilling one single hole in a standard dash frame. I intend to have this plastic velcro on so it can bit taken off to get to all the electrics.

Also the extra length helps with leverage.

i also need to heat up where the steering column goes and drop a scaffold pole at it to make a dent for column

Proper bonkers! Not that it helps you now, but I read that to form a Lexan windscreen, you can clamp the plastic across the original glass and leave it under halogen lights to heat it and it will form to shape. Not sure if that would have been suitable for what you were doing.
