Re: Friday night mayhem
Bomber tour was 1979 according to my ticket stubs, but dont you mean Hammersmith? Or maybe a later tour where the Bomber rig was still being used?Tweety wrote: on top of the bomber before we loaded it up with Vari*Lites for a rave at Brixton Academy in er 19??
Either way, cool pic Tweety
Talking of the old days..
An old school mate of ours who we still see for gigs has been going thru his old photos that he took at gigs in and around London from '78 - '87, and has started to upload them to a flickr album. He's been at it a couple of months and is only about 1/4 of the way thru as they need a bit of titivation to get them up to scratch, but I reckon they've come out great (whatever you think of the subject matter
Any non-believers will no doubt find them laughable and go
Plenty more to be added over the coming weeks....

Loving that picture of Andy on the Rig, that is a "keeper" photograph and a bit of rock history.
"Bomber" tour would have been '79.
The "Ace up your sleeve Tour" was 1980 (Yes, I DO still have the stub).
Both Gigs would have been at Hammersmith, but I am not surprised Andy did not know that - with his "Lifestyle" then I am amazed that he still knows his name and does no just sit in a high-backed chair and dribble a lot.......or maybe he does.....

Back in the late 80's me and my then partner Nick Archdale had a company that did lights for all sorts of thing, posh dinner parties @ the Imperial war musuem to dodgy raves in the east end. The guys we rented space from were Chameleon Lighting up in Ealing and they did the Motorhead tours, the Bomber rig was sitting around, so I got it dragged over to Brixton Academy for a Rave with the Raindance guys, hung far too many Vari+Lites and other effects on it and had a great night whizzing it up and down, looking back on it I think we were way over it's safe weight limit, but we did OK.
if you want to see real lights though, check out this-
We rigged this in ONE DAY, and it had 40x VL 1 Vari*Lites on it, it was the last time the old Genesis rig was ever used, by heck that was some work and I wonder why I have a bad back LOL. Ignore the sound track, that was put on after the gig!
