Yes I did thanks Martin, but I think Paul wants to sell as a complete engine.

I have some figures
Bore = 4.100.5 = +60 over
Piston = 4.095.5
Rings on there = 4.250 I assume this is what +60 rings come as?

Are ALL the Bores and ALL the Pistons the same size?
Have you / they checked to see if the bores are tapered through wear?

If I have read your data correctly, you are saying there is only 1 THOU clearance between Bore and Piston?
Have I got that right????
No wonder there were signs of over-heating if that is the case - I think you need 3.5 THOU clearance on most US pistons as they are "Barrel-shaped"??
Maybe a BIG Hone will get you out of trouble if all the Bores and pistons come up that size????

4.1005" - 4.0955" = .005" (5 thou) or am I missing something Pete?

I DID wonder, which is why I put the data into Excel - I do not trust my own mathematical abilities!!!!!

It came up with 1 thou.
5 Thou is the wrong answer from Carl's point of view..........

All pistons and bores came up the same.
I took those bore x piston figures as 5 thou too

Don't forget to divide it by two as that's the diameter you're measuring, so you'll have .0025" clearance between piston and bore.

My old mate always said about air-cooled Moto Guzzi's "If it rattles then it's a good 'en!"
Sadly, this may also apply to you.....not the end of the world....having the correct VTP clearance will be a benefit.
Look at it this way - were you concerned about excessive engine mechanical noise BEFORE your fateful run at the 'Pod?

1 thou = 0.001" therefore .005 has got to be 5 thou
