I was thinking that myself.Adrian Worman wrote: As a side note if the bores aren't 100% installing top quality rings won't save the job and will be a somewhat wasted excercise, just use some £100 a set file fit rings
Stroker rebuild

Already had the rings so have fit them to the pistons so might as well use them. I believe the oil pump was changed to a high volume pump according to the parts list that Simon posted when the engine was originally built. The oil suggestion isn't such a big deal as I can just get closed ended push rods if it's going to make life easier for me.

I am not so sure on Small bo1l0cks but on BB ones you actually need to restrict the flow to the top end as they actually over-oil on occasions.
As Adrian says, the minute you open up the pipe to the top end you are having less at the rotating assembly; so in my opinion not a good idea.
The Big pumps nowadays can end up pushing all the oil around the system, including the top end, and effectively emptying the sump - it LOOKs like you have oil pressure as the sensor is last in the food chain but the bits that need it most are actually getting starved of oil.....saw my first 500 stroker off that way...

I think its a good idea to use total seal rings. 95% over 8 bores ain't too sad at all given this first looked to be a scrap block !!!
It is now honed to the correct tolerances which it should have been in the first place , so why not use quality products and re build it properly.

I wasnt going to add oil through as an addition to the stock oiling I was just thinking of doing the conversion to oil through because all the parts I have got are oil through when I got the new rocker kit seems most new parts come that way.

Carl wrote:Block is back and he re honed out as much as he could do on the large over bore it already has without going into or getting close to the next 10thou overbore to get all the scratches out he was a bit concerned the block wouldn't take it, but 95% are gone and there is a good hatch over what is left and he says shouldn't be a problem as using total seal rings, I think he put another 4thou into it.
Ive also been thinking, most of the valve train components I have are for oil through pushrods, is it worth me doing the mod to oil through tappets, and if it is what would be the best way, drill and plug the oil way in the block or spin the cam bearings to cover the oil way?
Or will it not hurt to have both systems oiling? Oil pressure issues this way I wonder?

well your probably ok with it all, but "I think" doesn't come come into things when building engines...he should've measured the finished bore size and let you know so you know exactly what PTW you now have....if it was 4 thou your still a thou too tight?, another thou would've been no problem no matter what he said about the block, just me being picky I guess.
