I wanted a voltmeter without sprouting another gauge pod or modifying the dash.
£1.75 including postage on ebay - electronic voltmeter readout. 2 wires - +ve/-ve and voila - anything between 3-30v it reads. Perfect.
I took a piece of platic from a computer server rack blanking plate, made a mounting hole to hold the meter and mounted this on the angled frame of the ashtray surround. The objective is to keep the display angled toward the driver, but only visible when the ashtray is open.
Long story short, works a treat. Invisible when I want it to be, visible without moving my head just by opening the ashtray. Could be removed if needed with no obvious damage.
Not everyones cup-o-tea, but perfect for my needs. Thought it may be of interest to anyone with a similar requirement. Just got to finish the wiring through the bulkhead and I am good to go.
