Well I was outside at 9 this morning pulling the inlet off pulled out the offending lifter had a push on the plunger that pushed down too easy, well that's no bloody good, jumped in the car at 10.30 and hammered it to Custom Ville (hours drive from me) car was already pre booked in for its MOT at 2.45 hence the rush. Home by 12.40 and back out at car at 1 by the time I had Bananarama! about with a few things and prepared lifter, all back together by 2.30, started it up, lovely the horrendous tapping has gone. 2.35 right good enough shut bonnet down, open the gates pull car out not knowing if everything worked or if brakes would stop me as car has sat there since last July, locked the gates and house up and got to MOT station just in time.

And do you know what?.............It only bloody passed didn't it! Fingers crossed all's well. So had to have a little ride around for half hour and man did it feel good to be out on the road in me beloved motor!

Thanks everyone for you advice and help much appreciated.

And so another chapter closes.

there has been some problems with compcams lifters , lot of guys on the US sites have had problems with them collapsing & or giving random ticking , I forget what date they started having the parts made in japan , was worried about the last cam & lifter change I done , as to if I had these crap lifters , but had them on the shelf for a few years , so must of been before they were made in the far east , also few other cam manufactures , have their lifters made by the same japanise company & just rebox them , same with the real Johnson lifters , some are made in japan & some are still made in the US , forget the whole story :?
