I was going to say Jim's car too, plus JC's 'bird assuming it's done by then ;)

But if it is, I can see there being a queue of interested parties wanting it on their stand - Classic American and Meguiars to name just two.

Logistically tho, I fear it might be a bit optimistic expecting to get Jim's cuda up to Brum for 4 days in November. I'd love to be proved wrong tho! :)

Re Bob's Daytona, last we heard (at American Speedfest last year), 2014 was going to be his last year racing and was going to be taking it off the road to do a resto....

Its all about the wow factor if you want the punters to step on the stand give them something snazzy to look at, how full would you think strip joints would be with birds in there at 20 stone and mingin ???????????

Not at all Carl. Some people are contacting me directly & am starting to come up with a varied list. I'm pushing to have more cars this year too.

You're right Dunc.

Its about the individual car, I know there are plenty of cars in the club with the wow factor in every body type.

I'm not after every car to be rare but a couple should help us get a larger better stand.

I think there is some truth in what Carl says - lets not forget this is our biggest 'general public' type event where its all about showing them the 'scene'. Now whilst the classic car show will attract people who are knowledgeable to an extent, they wont be experts on every nuance that people in this club are. (for a recent example of this, see the charger500 thread. All good interesting stuff to us, but to JoePublic the charger500(69, not the 70 trim option 500...) is just a charger that 'looks wrong'. Is it rare ? valuable ? More interesting that stock - absolutely. But it doesnt mean much to those outside the know - they wanna see bullitt.

So - back to the plot. The NEC show needs
a) A wing car (pref a petty coloured bird with 43 written on it). Nothing syas 'WTF??' quite as well as a wing car.
b) Something with the word HEMI written on it.
c) A second gen charger. Preferably triple black.
d) A 70 challenger, preferably in white.
If there is any space left, then maybe something more geeky or (my personal vote) something outlandish like when Matt Snowball had that patina RR convertible. If you wanna go really wild, how about a 'work in progress' display. Heck, I'd pay to see an exhibition of autofetish-frankenstein-charger !

Ok. Now fight.

Well, I wasn't going to mention the 'Bird as it was on the MMA stand at the NEC a couple of years ago, maybe a bit longer, cant remember for sure. But of course its always available if needed.

Sorry Dunc I don't totally agree, I think its more down to the pecking order of what cars the members prefer as to what is thought the public want to see. Yes the wow factor plays a big part I agree, and im not saying my car is worthy but just to use it as an example.

I take it out for a drive and to be honest it does cause people to stop and look, take photos, come over and talk etc most of the time they don't know what they are looking at. I often hear.

Wow mate what is it ive never seen one before, is it a Mustang or a Chevy, can I look under the bonnet, how big is the the engine? etc?

Its a blah blah blah with blah blah blah.

How much does it do to the gallon, can I take a photo?

Well I would like to pay for my fuel and get on my way if you wouldn't mind, cheers anyway.

To most all they see is a Muscle car which to them is as rare as it gets without the finer details that would go over the heads of most of the public.

And some blokes like to slap the arse of a fat bird and ride on the ripples

Would be nice to see a race version , and road car next to each other ?
Bit of history on how cars were produced to race on Sunday, work on Monday. And how race cars had a production run to enable them into a certain race class.

That's what I was just thinking - Dons & JC's side-by-side would be a sight to behold :)

Wouldn't leave much room for anything else, mind
