Cheers Andy. Absolutely lovin' that bunker. Call me mad but if I won the lottery that's the kind of place I'd have. Even heard on the radio the other day that there was a nuclear bunker for sale not to far away from me for £20k. Got straight onto Google and found it - still for sale. That's the good news.

The bad news is its only only 40ft square and only accessible by ladder.

Great shots Jem. A lot of the Chrysler buildings in Detroit are now in a similar state.

I think most of the centre of Detroit is like that!

If you guys are into this sort of thing, check out the Julien Temple film "A requiem for Detroit", it's very good.

my oldest lad is into all this stuff. He explored a disused asylum down your way Gaz. Will see if I can get details etc for you although it might be gone now. He put me onto a site called '28dayslater ' where the kids who do urban exploring post up locations and lots of great photos.

Just be careful that you dont cause any damage getting in etc or you start getting into grey areas around burglary etc, dont remove anything and have a little read up on civil trespass before you go anywhere. Oh, and torches, phones with a signal and good boots are essential, Im told

Apparently, there is a huge underground cold war hospital in Brum but its almost impossible to get into. I would love to explore something like that

Love these threads, we have one every now and then and it amazes me how many of us appreciate this sort of stuff

I love the film 'Chernobyl Diaries'. A lot of the end scenes were filmed in a huge abandoned Nazi bunker

Appreciate that. There are quite a few places about , but obviously the legal side of things is an issue with most.
Urban explorer is a good site as well

Yep it was when I was there, City is bankrupt, I the UK we would demolish the old empty buildings to make car parks, but in the states they are left to decay.

No point spending money demolishing stuff in Detroit, just as people poured in to work in the auto industry, loads left when work dried up, and now no one that has any choice wants to live there. It seems strange to us in the UK that such huge areas in the US can be left derelict because basically the land has become worthless.
