The Beach Boys

Post by Raminduction »

OK so me and my old man are big Fans of Jan & Dean and the Beach Boys.

My Dad emailed me last night with his version of "Little Deuce Coupe" which I think is Brilliant. Its a modern day version which basically sums up modern day vehicles around the world ( especially the UK and the States ) and the ever increasing demand for more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient transport for the masses and the younger generation.

If you dont like it I will get my coat.........

" Well I'm not braggin' babe so don't put me down,
but I've got the most economical set of wheels in town.
When someone comes up to me he don't even try,
'cos there's so much traffic these days we just creep on by.
She's my little Chinese-built petrol-electric hybrid - you don't want what I've got.

Just a Chinese hybrid with a one litre mill
but the tank still costs me £50 to fill.
I don't think she's tooled and lathed or stroked and bored
but I don't really know 'cos I'm more into World of Warcraft and there's no app on my iPhone telling me how to open the bonnet anyway.
She's my little Chinese-built petrol-electric hybrid - you don't want what I've got.

She's got a very light clutch and a five-on-the-floor
and a pocket for my iPad in the driver's door.
And if that ain't enough to make you flip your lid - there's one more thing-
I don't pay any road tax because it's Euro 5 compliant, daddy.

So coming off the line when the light turns green
I have drive carefully, you know what I mean,
my insurers have a monitor fixed to my machine
and they'll double my premium if my licence isn't clean.
She's my little Chinese-built petrol-electric hybrid - you don't want what I've got ".

I think their tunes are fantastic - Kids should read the lyrics and realise just how cool these guys were ( especially Dennis - Two lane Blacktop )

Like it  big fan of the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean too. Dead man's curve great song great film think it was Richard Hatch played Jan Berry?

I've also got Dennis Wilson 2 solo albums, the only Beach boy to do solo work, not bad for the least talented of the band, but a huge drag fan too. What a loss

Nice modern spin on the lyrics.

In terms of the Beach Boys, I tend yo agree with the views espoused in "American Graffiti" but each to their own.........

Brian Wilson has been one of the most influencial musicians of modern times, especially his work with multi tracking in the studio, a real pioneer. Good Vibrations was the first song ever to be created from hours and hours of samples mixed together. That mid period is my favorite stuff, I get a bit bored by the early surfing stuff, by thier own admission they were only trying to have hit records to make a fast buck in the early days.

I have a Jan and Dean greatest hits album somewhere.

Dennis Wilson in the Beach Boys was the only one in that band really into surfing and Hot Rods.
