Cheers Si - Yours looks equally as good mate !!
Seems like the Judges took a shine to it to. I was walking around the stalls buying bits n bobs and on my way back to the car my Mrs tells me the judges had been round and left a ticket on the windscreen saying i had won a prize - report to the Judges marquee at 4pm. I was over the moon and just knowing that it had been nominated for a trophy really meant something.
So I went down to the Marquee at 4pm and there were 70 trophies in total to be handed out. The first 30 were handed out and i was expecting to be a recipient of one of them. Then the next 20 were handed out and then the next 10. No mention of my car so i was looking at my wife and brother in law and thinking "This is a prank ?" ( I have a reputation as a prankster and thought this was payback time lol ")
So to cut a long story short 7 of the remaining 10 were handed out leaving 3 big ones. Then 2 of those go leaving the "Number 1 Car of the Show" trophy. I then realised i had been the target of a cruel prank by my brother in law and wife ( payback would be sweet ) and then the Judge shouts out....."Car of the show - Matt Atherton 1969 Dodge Charger 440 R/T"......To say i was bowled over would be an understatement. I walked over to the judge and received the Trophy with a big hand shake. They then announced that all 4 judges had voted the Charger best of the show and were very impressed with the car. I was a little humbled with the trophy as i honestly thought there were better cars out there ( Anyone see the black 57 Thunderbird ? ) Owning one of these cars is a privilege to me and to know that your fellow petrol heads share the same opinion of an iconic MOPAR means more to me than a trophy itself.
Anyway the Manchester evening news will be doing a report on the event and took pictures of the car which will be in the paper soon. Classic American magazine may also be interested in doing a shoot on the car
The trophy ........
