If it says "bolts right on" you will need a hammer :?

Yea tti stuff is really nice and in the past I've found the fit to be good. Not looking forward to taking a hacksaw to a $600 set of headers so they clear the starter.
Here's another, Quick time bell housing, the supplied input adaptor needs to be turned down to fit in the housing and the z bar bracket they supply will need considerable grinding before the bolt holes will line up, really no excuse for this. It doesn't have a starter nose support either like the standard housing has so I will have to get one made and weld it in making a mess of the nice powdercoated finish
And this is before I've even offered it up to the engine or tried the box on it.

I used to think it all came from the parts bin labelled "export only" now I think it's just crap that 2 parts from the same manufacturer/supplier do not work together.

Pretty poor job, really; and not cheap either.

Do you think the Clutch Pivot will need bracing?

Remember all the kerfuffle on the SB Sox setup with the Lakewood steel bell housing....

That bell housing set up is really bad - no excuse for that at all - worth taking some pics and sending to them I reckon

As a quick side note i once ordered in a 540 big block Chevy short motor for a customer from Scott shafiroff racing engines in the states - was supposed to be a 10.5-1 pump gas motor - turned up as a 13.5-1 race gas motor with piston domes the size of Everest - that wasnt a happy day....

After a good deal of heating and tweaking, the starter actually fits. Not happy with that fag paper clearance, so I'll have another go and see if I can get that one pipe to to move a bit more....

Blow lamp and round bar time??

It took me 5 hours to fit the Hemi headers on the Barracuda, excluding cutting and boxing the chassis rails.

Blow lamp won't get it hot enough, had to use an acetylene torch. Tying to get a tube red hot in 3 places whilst applying pressure to move it is not easy with 2 hands....

Think my TTIs run closer to my headers Blue.
Been ok for some months now,but it worried me initially. I used some insulating shield between the two. In fact I wrapped the starter in it.

They weren't interested as too much time had passed before the motor was put together - as usual there was an element of worming themselves out of it, I ended up having it off him and put it in my old black Chevelle , now it's de-tuned and in my Camaro

Sorry for the thread hi jack blue my fault , have you seen the flexible starter wraps from D.E.i or thermotec ? They work really well when it's really tight on the headers , may mean you don't have to tweak them anymore - they are about £25 or so

Nice one Chris, I was going to wrap the starter so I'll have a look at those. I wangled about another 1/8" of clearance today, that will have to do. Started modifying the clutch Z bar today, looks like another pipe will still need to be tweaked to clear that  I'll get the linkage to work with the headers and then fit the new bell housing and mod that to fit the linkage if I have to rather than the other way round.

All finished finally! Had the whole system aluminium sprayed to keep corrosion at bay. Need to start hassling Dale for my doors now, that will be the next big job.
