I like the ride height. I've been thinking about nudging mine up a bit. When the rear end is out this winter I might bring it up a snadge...

Back in 2011 …

Heat riser block off

In an attempt to improve hot starting I wanted to replace the valley pan gasket to block off the exhaust passage

Evidence of burnt paint either side of the carb suggested the passage was open

The heat control valve in the right side exhaust manifold was long gone

I started out by relocating the coil to a vertical position on the inner fender

And prepared the new valley pan gasket

Next up was upper control arm bushes

The old ones were quite buggered, but they came out relatively easy with a selection of tubes, sockets and a big vice

Can't remember what these are called, some sort of splash shield fills the gap where the lower control arm strut passes through to the K frame

Seems a bit lame on the ‘work in progress’ front

But I was quite pleased with the rejuvenated shiny bits on the rear view mirror …
