Hello and welcome,
importing a car is pretty simple, some DVLA paperwork (always challenging) and waiting for shipping and customs. Then pick up from the docks (rent a trailer) MOT and registration. You can pay for companies to do all this for you but I think it takes all the fun out of it!
I have brought 3 in to the UK over the years. Getting sellers in the states to work with you can sometimes be trying, some are plain paranoid, but most are fine.
Good Luck with your search...

Yes it's worth mentioning the trust thing, there's not really a sure fire way of buying in the States without trust on both sides, the seller has to trust that when he gives you his bank account details, you're not just going to clear out his account. You have to trust him that once you've paid you will see a car at the end of it. If the seller won't allow you to pay by bank transfer, or email you a copy of the title before you pay, walk away.

Welcome
I bought mine over with Hills a couple of years back, no problems, but just check everything carefully. When I got an email copy of the Title doc and a photo of the VIN plate I noticed a typo between the numbers. Unlike here, it only took 2 days for the seller to get the local DMV to reissue it with the correct number, but that's the sort of thing that could cause big problems at UK Customs if it slips through.
Good luck

I do a bit of sourcing and importing from the US as a "second" job. Feel free to give me a shout for any advice or vehicle sourcing if you want me to search for you.

Welcome gl, great choice of car, I have a 72 4 speed RR and love the 4 speed you get that awesome 4 speed growl on deceleration the Auto boys dont get. True they can be a pain especially trying to find second gear if the selectors are a bit worn when giving it the large = embarrassing fail. Good luck in your search, have you spoke to Don he has contacts in the States and imports.
