Great to catch up with some of the MMA guys.
Did both days.

Sat was a scorcher (have red face to prove), but not that busy, plenty of decent racing, even if a VW Beetle tried to eat the Xmas tree.

Sunday was busier. Loads of new American iron on show that I'd not seen before. Sun was out in force again.

Think it'll be empty tomorrow as most I had spoken to had either left by 4pm or were leaving later that night.

It's a great place, but compared to a few years ago the numbers don't seem to be there.
I'm surprised that more clubs don't support it, Corvette club, MOCGB, MMA etc with designated areas. Could get as big as the HRDs, but not sure if people have the hunger for it.....no doubt, events at the POD hurt the numbers. Shame really.

Still a great weekend though.........

Indeed Blue, it was as you say great weather and a great atmosphere. I had a fantastic time hanging out with yourself, Don and Chris amongst others on Friday night.
Woke up Saturday morning to glorious weather and lined up for inspection and then straight to the strip. First pass was 13.5 and the best of the mornings other 3 passes was 13.1. Then an enforced break in proceedings after a Bug wheelies off the line and took the tree out, dragging it quite a way!

After the Shakey crew managed to fix put it all back together, a bit of watching from the stands, then back to pit lane for a slow crawl to the front with many track inspections taking place the last of which left me sitting in the water box for 15 minutes. Finally though 2 more passes, after the last of which Blue rings me from the stands to tell me I'd just run 12.95... I was elated. Parked up and went down to the stands to watch the last few runs, picking up my slips on the way. Result! my second from last pass was 12.8 at 104 with a 1.8 60. Pleased as punch that I was in the 12's good and proper!

Sadly had to leave at about 7 as I have to work over the weekend, but had a great drive back home in the last of the evenings sun.

As you said Blue the flaming finish on the last pass of the day was spectacular, (though not for the driver) and indeed I was drooling over Dunc's Duster.
Now just praying that I can make it to some of the other meets this summer.

Well I made it today, first ever drag meet

enjoyed the sights and sounds.Took a walk round the pit area early afternoon to see if I could find any MMA only spotted this on its own, which I think is Dave81's

did see Don Scotts and Dunc's on track though

Great weekend good to get some seat time The Duster ran faultless was like running a 12 second car well chuffed with the old prostocker, it got a good reception and i was real happy that the master Blue likes it as he is in to the old pro stockers etc, brilliant to catch up with old mates mopar guys or not,,,, and Dorian you need a bit more seat time in them passenger planes, but well done with your pb,

The yellow Pontiac belongs to JohnS on here. There were a few MMA guys there in other cars too. It's a shame they moved this event to the bank holiday a few years ago. It now clashes with the Pod, Enfield pageant, Knebworth and a multitude of other shows which has to affect numbers.

made it real nice to have decent weather all weekend !! also nice to have the track in good shape up there, definatley more busy than last year, dunc about time you were back in the saddle that duster looks great !!

Great to catch up with the MMA guys after so long. Rose and I were there from Friday lunch until finally giving up about 13:45 today. It was bloody cold today, especially, after a couple of scorchers. Had fun helping out with Don's bird. Dunc's Duster was a crackin' bit of kit - loved it.

I had a nice stop over from my Big daft northern adventure. Nice to catch up with all the guys and give Don a push with the Big Bird. Really liked Duncs Duster, 9.2? Looked so easy from the stands..
Not many overnighting on Sunday so I drove home.

Great weekend and nice to see all the MMA guys, sorry I was not in the alley!!!!

Lot of nice cars and yes Dunc duster looks, sounds and runs great love it.
