We were there Weds to Sun, have driven there the last 10 years but flew this time, good friend who lives in town leant us his 65 Impala convertible to roll round in which was nice :-) Have stayed at the Scandic every year since 99 but this year stayed a little way out of town in an apartment which was a lot cheaper.
There's a good chance this years show will be the last PBM as the organisers got robbed on the Friday and lost around £120k in cash, they've said they won't run it anymore, be a shame as next year would have been the 40th anniversary
That is bad, easy for me to say but carrying 120k in cash will attract trouble esp as not doubt off previously years quite a few people will know about it, once ive ever got more more than 20k in cash somebodys going straight to the bank to get shot of it

The show has always been cash only on the gate, they said they had over 10k cars through the gate on Friday at around a tenner a head plus the event T shirt sales and food, the event team were entering their hotel when attacked violently. They've done it the same way for years, tallied up over night then banked it the next day, guess they never figured it would happen to them. The repercussions are pretty big if the event folds, it brings a lot of money to the town and to the hobbies parts suppliers

Cheers guys, still more to come later, I take far too many photos

I’ve tried to get rid of as much dross as possible and removed about 150 photos, still too many left, but there was just so many great cars and sights

I’ll post mainly Mopar in here, then add a photobucket link to the rest when I’m done

Cheers Ali, as above, I think I need to go back to 35mm and only take 1 role of film, this digital business is far too easy

I noted that too, they certainly like their land yachts and convertibles, the 3 days I was there the weather was awesome, most definitely rag top weather

Cheers, you are right the scale of the show and the cruising is hard to describe

Sounds like you have a really good friend there to lend you a car, fantastic

the chaps I was with have also been going for many years and they were saying the Scandic was quieter this year as a lot were staying out of town

that’s bad about the robbery, we did hear about the incident, I really hope it’s not the last show

Excellent pics, as ever Si :thumbright:

I always thought Tatton Park looks like a bigger meet than we get even down here in in the south (which it undoubtedly is) but Vasteras must make even Tatton Park look like a mid-week pub meet in comparison

Lets hope they can recover the stolen money somehow and keep the event running... [-o<

i think Tatton gets about 750 cars per day ... ??

as mr Motorama said, it's difficult to get across to people the scale of it all, it's so much more than just a car show

It's massive - you have to go at least once. Book your hotel now for next year. I was lucky enough to go and meet up with some guys that knew their way about. There is an out of town shopping area where people meet with cars in the evening and there is a well organised burn out area that is added entertainment. You will probably see every year of the big fin Caddys over your weekend

If you are driving to the show area leave early on Sunday or Saturday as with 10k cars there is a lot of motors to get in the gates. If you are on foot get the ferry from the marina and walk in - easy.

The cruise is great as well. As far as the town goes there are just SO many cars that modern euro boxes look out of place. If you own a petrol station in Vasteras this IS your biggest money earner all year.

Looking at the pics etc I just may have to go again.

Great photos of an amazing show, thanks for sharing them. Hope it's not the last show, it's been on my must visit list for a long time now.
Just goes to show how low the thieving scum are prepared to go, putting a successful show and the town / industry that profits from it at risk
