Shortened the prop shaft. That entailed also fitting the yolk that went with the Dana 44HD axle.It needed to be sleeved , as the diameter was not the same as the original.

Road tested ,no wobbles, but I will have it checked for ballence when I have the auto box out for hop up.

Speedo is wildly out after going from 2.73 to 3.73, but all good apart from that, disc brakes work well , and I don't think I need a bias valve

Was the gearing change massively noticeable ???

Yes , not sure that I like it, but most of my driving is country lanes, so it's OK
But I need to sort out the speedometer, and sort out which drive I need now

I'm guessing it's doing 40/45 mph,at 2000 rpm will need to check with gps

245/45/17 and 3.73 axle gear ratio, equates to 38 real mph per 2000 rpm, indicated 40 mph.
That seems ok around the lanes, but not done any long 70mph plus yet.

I fitted the new recon brake servo today. The one fitted was new just before I imported the Dart. But the donut that fitted it managed to brake the plastic control valve inside. I repaired it with an epoxy repair resin, but it still had a minor leak, worked fine but the idle speed fluctuated when you had your foot on the brakes.
New one works great, idle is stable, and the acceleration flat spot is gone

Getting close to pulling the 727 out for overhaul,soooon.

I will see if I can post a "hook up" video of the hybrid locker axle in action.

Well only a year and a half later, and I think I'll be removing the Auto box tonight

Well it's out. It took 3 hrs over 3 days over a week and a half

Pretty straightforward with a 2 post lift,air tools and long socket extension's
The Dart can now go back in the corner while I do the Box up.

I guess they are, I'm just looking for someone to to lift it off the gearbox jack with me, then I'll know how heavy

Well I have had rather a busy last 5 months.
And I imported a Ute from Australia, that's now all sorted and on the road

But unfortunately the 727 is still sitting on the bench , untouched

Hopefully back on with it soon

If it was easy, I d have the Mustang 5 speed OD box in the Dart

electronically controlled , adjusts to your driving style,Ok til it goes wrong.
A727 classic Mopar Box, just need to get on with it now.

Well its a rainy day here in East Sussex today.
So I thought I might up date my stagnant "Johnny's Dart Repairs"

Its been a year since I took the auto box out of my 1972 Dart Swinger, and its been on my bench , untouched since.
Here's the Dart in the corner of the barn, where its sat since last November, the box sat on the bench, and the message on the box from a previous owner.
Who was Molly ? All I know is the box was bought from a breakers yard in Arizona by a previous owner, according to the receipt it cost $175 and came out of a 1974 Dodge V8 Van.
Hopefully I will make a start on a full rebuild soon, I bought all the parts before the slump in the pound.
I have not touched anything Dart since last November, as I had 50m of sleeper wall to put up(I had to re do 10 Bays, as It started to move) I ended up with 3 tons of concrete for each post, 2m heal and 500 toe. Plus converting my Land Rover to a Tipper. And getting the Holden Ute that I imported this time last year up to my standard. Oh and going to work.
So fingers crossed Gearbox rebuild soon

Its a pity all the other photo bucket pictures have all disappeared
