How did you get on with the engine Dave? Was it just a head gasket?

yes mate .blew on weakest point on the gasket by the water inlet on no5 cylinder that was full of coolant ...no wonder so much steam was coming out the drivers side ,could have made a cup coffee with all the steam
all back up and running ,plus did a upgrade on cooling system and put a ally rad and shroud in
so fingers crossed all is good..
