Do they help keep temp down?
Got engine rebuilt (440) and runs about 500hp and have noticed that once up to temp 185f the fans stay on all the time and when in slow traffic coming back from HRDs went up to 210f,wee bit hot for my liking.
On the old engines it never seen that temp less HP and worn just feel i'm at the limits and thought of the Radiator.
Also on long runs doesn't like hot starts so drilled out holes to let hot air out.

I Got an alloy rad earlier this year. Very nice build quality and it came to around Â£230-odd with shipping and import fees. Its a champion rad from Monster cooling. I Cant comment on keeping cool as my duster has an overheating problem unrelated to the rad which i havent yet fixed.

I've said this before, but the cure for my hot running motor was an Ali rad from DaveBillydoo and a hemi clutch fan. Never even seen 200 in hot weather and static traffic.

Clutch fan and a rad from http://www.championradiators.com/ and that's all I've needed - I have a fan shroud too just for good measure

When I looked into it the Champion Rads had a good rep and you can get all the prices from their web site too.

Ally rad and a clutch fan here too. Aftermarket electric fans are just not up to the job of cooling a big V8, nowhere near enough CFM. A 2 speed modern fan from a Mercedes will do the job but they are expensive and have a high current draw, just not worth the hassle or expense IMO.

Got a Champion and fixed fan in mine as the old rad had it up to 215.

Doesn't go above 190 in traffic in the summer. Runs to cool this time of year.

If you do end up wanting a Champion rad and can't find the one you want on their site it's worth giving them a call. They have more available than they have on the site.

same here had all sort of high temp to start with as it had ally rad with 2 small electric fans on all the time, but running high.

After setting timing then a little better but still hot, so end up with clutch fan and it never hits 190 even in traffic at summer time.

I would go Alloy Rad on a Hi Po motor but I think a lot of overheating issues are down to ignition timing and mixture, especially at idle..

Don't need to worry about all that Pete got someone who knows what there doin' to sort all that out,Dave B.
Just seems to be more heat build up after the engine rebuild and it's the only thing I've not upgraded since.
