On the subject of Shakey, no formal announcement has been made yet, although, I'd like to wish Jerry Cookson, the best of luck in his ongoing treatment following his heart problem.
Seen a few posts on facebook Chris saying its done. Apparently all businesses have been told to leave (end of Nov i think), they start work in Jan/Feb next year.

They also had a planning review in the 27th Nov with Cala Homes and the local people.....have screebshot but it wont upload here!

Its dead in the water.

I hope they can find an alternative location even if its just 1/8 mile, but with planning issues and the old NIMBYs out there i also think its dead.

Really like the POD but its a 4 hour round trip. The others with family commitments and time constraints (plus i drive the car to events), is a non starter.

Well done York.......Keep supporting and improving and it should stay for longer than 10 years🖒

Great news, been going to York since 1978. Went with my dad ,as I was truck mad as a kid. They used to do truck racing then. Going there opened up a whole new world of yanks ,hot rod , noise power and speed. Attended regularly ever since. Always a great frendly atmosphere , yeah it was lagging behind in facility's compared to the other strips, hopefully now it will rise like a phoenix and go from strength to strength.

And it looks like the Pod has fought off a planning application for 4500 houses within earshot, Drag racing lives for another year....

The pod has a clause written into their agreement with their local authorities that anyone who develops any area within earshot of the track has to take care of preventing any noise travelling in their direction that might disturb residents of the area.
Someone was on the ball with future proofing when that agreement was drawn up :D

Magnificent, I know how passionate Dave has been about this and so pleased to see that enthusiasm has been matched by enough cash. Superb =D>
