Another point with Facebook UK Mopars is the fact it is a public group and anyone and everyone can see what is posted and like or dislike posts, I prefer the privacy of the MMA Forum where only genuine enthusiasts are included.
I don't put anything on Facebook that I don't want to be public knowledge.

The other big problem with Facebook Vs the forum is every bugger in the world can find you and you might just want to hang on to your privacy. You can't hide behind an alias on Facebook but you can here should you wish.....

I know this might be a bit of an odd question, but why do we want more people here?

Sure, UK mopars has 5000 menbers, but how many actually post or use it?

Im sure you could have 5000 here too if you wantedand put in the effort, it was free etc, etc. But im pretty sure it wouldnt make it "better".

Facebook is a bit like Monster Munch. This place is like more like Kettle Crisps Sea Salt & Crushed Black Pepper.

Yes, I certainly wouldn't post on UK Mopars about my chlamydia, but in here I think it's fine to share.

I sometimes browse UKmopars to see what is going on but much prefer this forum. As well as the privacy issues, the advice, help and encouragement on this forum is far more helpfull and considered. That is because the forum is mostly real enthusiasts, Whereas FB UKmopars is mostly people with an interest. There are always going to be more people with an interest than there are real enthusiasts. I will give advice to people when I am confident that it is correct and not when I heard it third hand etc. All so we can enjoy our fantastic cars as much as possible.

I value the MMA forum, and will support it to the last. It feels like you're among friends here, and the technical knowledge (and willingness to share it!) is second to none. More than happy for some of my MMA subs to fund it too.

But I'm as guilty as anyone of posting on Facebook more often than here. Sadly, I think the days of php forums are over, with the move from PCs to mobile devices, and the convenience of Facebook, e.g. one click photo posting. And of course it's easier for your friends to respond too, including non MMA members. I find Tapatalk clunky and intrusive.

So I fear that the future of online social interaction for this club may be Facebook. I see we've made the MMA FB page a closed group, which helps to reduce the 'noise', but I think it would be a lot livelier if members were allowed to start their own posts, like the Mustang and Tri Chevy Clubs.

In any case, I don't see a problem with the MMA forum/FB group co-existing with UK Mopars. It all helps to spread an appreciation of these cars in the UK.

And I'd just like to thank Martin for his tireless work managing this forum, and anyone else that contributes.

Well put. Totally agree. This Forum is a serious resource, and an asset to the club.

I am really glad this has been raised, and prompted so much discussion.
I see the forum as a valuable historical and technical resource which needs preserving.
FaceBook has its uses most definitely but it does not replace the forum, it can potentially compliment it.

After scrolling through the usual noise/crap that gets shared over and over again to UK Mopars I had to ask.......

What happened the rule number 2?

Two rules 1. BE POLITE 2. MOPAR ONLY
