All non-Roller Lifters have a convex Base.

As Pete said Convex, which aids the lifter to rotate

That will explain why i am having no spinny then, in the box of goodies with the engine are some completely flat ones.
I thought the ones with the convex bottom were worn flat ones

Lifters need to be matched to each individual lobe of the cam if previously used.
If they are not in order then they are scrap.
If the bases are Flat or Concave they are scrap.

Looks like new cam and lifters time then Pete
So what cam to go for?
If I going to have to buy a cam , it may as well be a choppy one
