Charger fuel cell replacement

Post by Cameron Casswell »

So I won this 1968 charger but it has a retro fitted fuel cell in the boot, which wouldn’t be a issue but the tank is just so small that you can’t drive it without thinking about the next stop just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of either a bigger fuel cell in the boot or putting back an originally located tank if so where to get either? Based on Chigwell

rock auto in the states do a stock replacement tank, galvanised mild steel of stainless steel. also a stock looking tank with an in tank pump for late model efi conversions. good prices and cheap shipping too.

If you want a bigger cell, it's easy enough to order in from summit racing etc.
I have a 16gal tank in mine (440ci). Look to fill up after every 100 ish miles and still have plenty in there.

Goodale American Speedshop (based in Wisbech, Cambs) can get large parts like this shipped over at competitive rates, compared to Summit and Rockauto etc, and will most likely ensure you get the correct part, unlike some of the others :-k ;)

If you install an original tank you need to ensure that the current floor will work with it - they may have cut the original Wheel well out and the tank "wraps around" this.

Also you will need correct fuel sender, earth strap or alternative, Tank straps to hold it in place, and correct Fuel filler neck which has a breather incorporated in it from memory..... I suggest more investigation may be required....
