Now I am really back. 69 street/strip Valiant.

Post by Jeff »

I have just returned home with Billy.
A recent post was about me finding another Mopar.
Well, today I found it. With a great deal of help from Blue,
(I musta driven him mad) even though he is on the other side of the Atlantic. I found something that meets my brief.
Well, almost.
It looks like a proper little granny, grocery getter.
Inside, and out, with a few tell tale signs, a trained eye would notice. I am back, with a nice little Plymouth Valiant.

The guy I bought it from, is a Chevy guy, owns 5 really nice ones, as well as a huge big block Chevy motor Studebaker race car. The Valiant was built by a friend of his who passed away before he could ever race it.
Apparently he was a true die hard Mopar racer.
All I know about it (before I get paperwork).
Motor, trans, and rear end were all rebuilt for street/strip use, less than 2000kms ago.
Motor is a 30over 400ci with forged crank, not sure on pistons or valve train. It has ported 915 heads, weiand intake and 700 Holley. Manifolds, no headers.
Trans is a 727, with 2800 convertor.
Rear is a Ford 8.8” with 3.73 gears. Disc brakes all round,
Interior is totally stock, apart from gauges.
Not sure on rear springs. Billy called me to check on something while I was looking lol!
Plan is, get it home, go over it, leave as is, and see how it works at the track.
Then over the winter, do what I need to do. Definitely need to get rid of the skanky carpet!
And a bit of paintwork. Wink wink.
