As I've no realistic means of getting this sorted by Brewers, I put the friction plate up for sale yesterday and it's already been snapped up
I just need to order the ceramic/ organic tomorrow from WASP. It's special order so I won't get it til mid-July but... I'm off the road anyway so that's fine.
Well I've had a play with an 800cfm spreadbore (see separate post) which went well.
I sprayed my rear indicators gloss white inside, should make them more visible on sunny days I hope!

Shock rods arrived back today £130 the pair.
The original seals were a one-off and no longer produced so I'm replacing each one with two plain seals, one single lip, one double. Together they're the same shape as the originals.
I just need to get some 5wt bike fork oil and rebuilding can begin

Busy day today...
Stripped out the gearbox and pulled the knackered old clutch out.
The new flywheel is on, new clutch is in place, it just needs aligning. I've ordered a tool which won't arrive til Monday, I doubt my patience will last til then so I'll probably do it by eye anyway
The magnetic gearbox drain plug has collected some swarf, I'll investigate that before it goes back together. I also still have a bad leak from the front seal, this is due to play in the input shaft so I need to sort that so it doesn't pee oil all over my new clutch.
Wren has taken over from Willow now as quality control.

there is always play in a RWD manual gearbox input shaft when not fitted to the engine. but it is important that the spigot bush in the crank is good as this aligns the input shaft.
Thanks Will. Thinking sensibly, I can't refit the gearbox til the leak is sorted and that'll take a while as I need to get the bearing housing machined and sleeved.
You're welcome to come for a brew if you're bored mate but don't worry about the tool
I popped the side cover off the gearbox, no sign of any damage or further metal bits so I'm happy to leave it be. The oil leak isn't what I thought but I did find a likely cause- the end of the countershaft is prone to leaking and needs a smear of sealant. Well I didn't do a very good job of it last time! Fingers crossed it's sorted now, gearbox is all ready to put back in the car.

If you get it done by Thursday, I can see you trying to figure out how to drive with one leg out of action........
