I'm with Anton on this one....
I quite Like Steve's fix, other than the fact that you have to run more wires.....

OK Jon, I just seemed to get contradictory advice, or at least that's how I read it

I will re-wire a new link from the brake light switch as suggested.
Thanks.

When you use the indicators the cancel out the brake light so that is why you disconnect the original brake light wire at the switch and run a new one for the switch to the lights and the use the original wire for your new indicators.

They dont cancel out the fronts...hence my post idea :thumbright:

Thanks for that Steve, I still think that's the neatest way and I'll use it next time :thumbright:

Since when did we have front brake lights? :?

I'm with Anton on this, i.e. run the original indicator wires to amber reverse lights, and run a new feed from the brake pedal switch to brake lights. Very easy to do, and never had an issue.

The problem with daisy chaining rear indicators from the fronts is that you are doubling the load on those circuits. As I found out (expensively) when my Mustang's SJB circuit board fried recently, because the SVA conversion chimps did it that way. I know our old Mopars don't have SJBs, but still best to stay within original load parameters.

Guys, I must have missed a trick here, but something is wrong.
I connected my right rear indicator wire to the reverse wire and got indicators from the reverse lights. All good
However, I have now lost the tail lamp circuit
What do I do to restore the tail lamp circuit? I thought it was fed independently via the black wire and not the indicator feed :?

You need to run a new wire from the brake pedal switch to the brake lights. On a standard ate up the brake light go through the indicators so the indicators take over the brake lights.

OK Anton, i've already run the wire and I will connect it tomorrow.
Are you saying that by doing this I will restore brake lights & tail lamps?
I assume that the new wire from the brake lamp switch splits off to the now cut off green/brown indicator wires at each tail lamp bulb assembly?

Is it worth one you clever blokes banging out a really simple before and after wiring schematic for plebs like me....please :thumbright:

All done!!!
Thanks to Ade for tech assistance by phone!
The main thing is the new wire from the brake switch as Anton and the other guys pointed out. You have to piggyback it so it connects to both the ex-indicator wires at the stop/tail light bulls.

Should also mention the importance of good earths again. On one side I had brake/tail lamps working on the same filament which I thought was a mistake I'd somehow made. Mad Machs spotted the problem straight away; I'd previously fitted a new bulb holder and it wasn't earthing fully. One soldered earth strap and everything worked correctly.

Steve, I'm crap with IT so will have to describe it in next post.
