that's normal. just a bit of drag from the oil.
if the wheels are on the ground and it's moving in neutral then you have an issue, but usually you can't get gears then anyway
if all else seems normal then I'd say the gearbox is fine. a new clutch may make the pedal effort lighter for more comfort.
Thanks all, waiting on rear drums and cylinders so I can get her over to my mates place. Drums were shot too. We will get it sorted. Got stuff on way from rockauto! I thought the shipping issue was Brexit but saw posts on another forum from Italy, Finland, Poland etc, so not just us.

BTW, Cultra hill climb on tomorrow from 9am. Live stream for those interested. Don't know what the weather is like for you but dire here. Cultra is the Ulster folk and transport museum, one of my old workplaces, may head over myself.. look up Ulster transport museum website. Will be in the wife's polo. Not the same.
Well finally got the dart over to my mates. 70 miles away with only left front brake. Left early to avoid traffic. Will be removing gearbox and will put a more factory clutch in. The dual friction centre force is too heavy for me now. Any recommendations for a factory clutch? 340ci manual 4 speed. I believe rockauto aren't shipping to UK now. Will be a while though, couple booked in before me. The barracuda needs a lot of work. Pics attached.

When I was 20 I wouldn’t have even considered an automatic American car, I’ve had a good few 4 speed cars and converted cars to 4 speed. These days I’m the other way, wouldn’t want a 4 speed and I’ve converted a few 4 speed cars to auto. No cutting required its pretty much bolt in. Converting an auto to fully manual operation does away with the troublesome kick down linkage, and gives you full control without a heavy clutch to deal with which is a godsend in traffic. A decent cable operated shifter can be positioned just where you want it for ease of use. I think your car is small block? In which case a 904 will do you, you don’t even need a 727.

Thanks Blue but I am perfectly happy with a 4 speed, just need to be a bit lighter. Had the 727 in my gtx and could sort that myself but that was nearly 40 years ago. I'm going to stick with the manual. I don't drive that much now and when Tony O valued it after I got it from Skippy, he did highlight that it was a 4 speed. All the best. Gerry.
Interesting, I have had 6 four speeds, and I found the Centreforce clutch (without the over-centre spring installed) to be the lightest clutch of them all..... we had to limit the Clutch pedal travel to prevent the release bearing pushing the Clutch plate over-centre (the Yanks call it "Breaking its Back" for some reason...)
