Mark, I assume you mean the diagonal bar between one of the front suspension mounts and the opposite axle end mount (as per a ladder bar)?

I agree that they are absolutely essential to control suspension movement safely.

When the Dart hit the wall at the Pod, this locator bent due to the force and the axle was free to move lateraly, scary stuff!!!!!

Worry not... I have a Panhard across the top of the axle.
I got it from S&W along with the axle, so i know it's up to the job.

The clearance between brace and prop is about an inch, that's with the axle hanging at full shock extension. I can easily move it lower down if you think thats too close.

Do you think I need any more metal anywhere?

DB - good news on the pan hard rod :thumbright:

An Inch should be OK, based on full extension. If it's a real easy job, then more clearance is better for that just in case,unlikely scenario . . .

Cheers Mark i can tweak a wee bit more clearance :thumbright:

I just realised- I have to unbolt the shocks and drop the axle right out when I want a rear wheel off.
There's no way i can put that bar below the prop unless i unbolt the UJ every time :?

Me too, hence my slightly longer brake pipes.

I ran braided from the front mount, along the upper link bar to the axle T.

Yeah, glad i twigged before i welded it in!!

It'll be a lot harder to go over. It'll be tight between the prop and the tunnel and it'll test my pipe- bending skills :shock:

At some point i may re-do the front mounts completely. I built that bit about 5 years ago and it all looks really crude to me now!

Just started the car to see what the new exhausts sound like (they're only tacked up- off for tigging tomorrow).

Conclusion- Thrush mufflers aren't for the fainthearted :shock:

Good news: My mate Danny is painting my car for free! He's been out of work for a while and is bored sheetless so he asked if he could paint it for me :shock: :D
He's done 2 days solid d.a.ing and and done in 30-odd 80grit discs so far!
He'd hoped to get it done for my wedding but one rear arch is worse than expected and it's looking iffy now :?

Bad news: Rejected by the DVLA on lack of date evidence. Should be able to sort that tho...
