I know i'd be all over the shop trying to decide what to do with such a great blank canvas.

It drove me mental for a long time Miles- I bought this car purely on the strength of a tiny 3"x1" pic I saw on the internet of one in gloss black with chrome Cragars and from that moment i had to have one.
Then i got my Belve with original very faded and aged Burgundy paintwork, and it slowly grew on me. So, it's staying.
It's actually a Subaru colour but as near a match as I could find after 2-3 hours with a rack of paint chip books!
Some may call it red but i swore i'd never have another red car due to a run of bloody awful red-car experiences in the past... so no, it is NOT red it's Burgundy ok!

I've just removed that last couple of sq feet of original paint and drenched the whole car in Por15. It now looks lightly galvanised, lovely

Yep, loving the galvanised look!
I use a product called Gibbs Penatroyl which I use to keep my chassis lubricated without being sticky. on their website they have pics of hot rods bare metalled and sprayed with Gibbs. It prevents moisture and keeps the bare metalled look.
Probably fine in southern California, but not so good in wet Wales!

Tere's actually some progress to report!!

Danny has been busy for the last few days cleaning out panel gaps, channels, nooks and crannies ( do Yanks have nooks and crannies? )
He's put a couple of layers of filler on one rear 1/4 and filled all the slight imperfections, he's been grinding out & Jennoliting the little rust pits ( looks like it's got the pox!) and DA-ing panels again to shift the rust haze that's appeared since the wedding.

Not sure about the little filler panel behind the rear bumper. It looks like there should be maybe a rubber strip or something? I may be able to get a sill section or something and adapt-to-fit, it's going to be a right pain to replicate and weld in without it distorting

Are you back home from France D.B ? If you are I will call at the weekend to pick up the truck.

I've not had much to say here lately due to all the stress over trying to get my car painted and it making very little progress

It's still sat in the garage in bare metal, slowly rusting...

The good news is, my Dad has come to the rescue- he's offered to help pay for a professional job. I'm waiting for Steve (who painted my Yam- pics elsewhere on here) to call round and give me a price.

I've dumped the ATF out now and will put EP80/90 in the gearbox once it's had a day or so to properly drain. I've ordered the smaller fitting i need to replace mt faulty BG reg with the Holley one from Mick. I've cut off the rusty rear bumper-filler panel bit. I'll just leave it off- I've trial-fitted the bumper and if you'd never know there was something missing.

Meanwhile, my brother-in-law has been playing with his new photo-software...

He turned out to be a waste of space Pete- full of empty promises.
One of those wasted talents, great at what he does but he'd rather spend all day on his playstation than working.

I guess he will run out of money and his business will fail..............

Already happened Pete- It wasn't his business but he got laid off about a year ago and he's just done bits & cash in hand stuff since then. It's only now he's getting kicked out of his flat for being so far behind on his rent that he's actually started looking for work!

Gotta be honest i really can't understand guys like this and their mentality!
Had a family friend who had his own business and could literally earn a 6 figure sum if he worked full time. Would rather work 2 days a week and spend the rest of his time on his mountain bike?

Got the fuel reg plumbed in last night, refilled the gearbox and fired her up.
This gave Jasper a chance to test the charging system again. He's sussed why the car's not been charging- my regulator is for a 1-wire alternator Doh!

I've also been dealing with a slight disaster I'm based in a very old BT exchange tucked well out of the way and we never get visited by managers or anyone too nosey. We had a 'secret storeroom' which we'd gradually filled with a cast iron fireplace, 2 ladders, a cement mixer, 8'x4' sheets of plywood, several boxes of car & bike parts and, er... 3 motorbikes
Well on Friday, someone official turned up and gave us (luckily!) 7 days to shift it all.
It's been a busy few days!!
