Sounds like your getting there Paul.
Not a small task to undertake. Well done :thumbright:

It's slow going because I've lots of other stuff on but yes, getting there :thumbright:
The trans is in, prop is in, shifter rods are fitted & correctly adjusted this time!
Should get more done this weekend...

Well looks like the weather is going to be a bit kinder down here this weekend. Hope it's good for you. Rocker gaskets and cleaning for me.
A bit trivial really as to the projects a lot of you guys are playing with.

It's all a learning curve Mossy, it's not that long ago I was in awe watching people doing the stuff I can now do myself!
You can learn a lot here :read2: :thumbright:

Weather bloody awful here but I've got a bit more done-

Trans full of 80/90
Exhausts on
Shift lever on with the adaptor plate I made to lengthen it and kick it back a bit so I don't punch the dash going hard for 3rd

All gearbox bits done now :thumbright:

I've replaced the 4 lower control arm rod ends as they were worn out.
I got them from - www.mcgillmotorsports.co.uk - very good supplier.

I was unhappy with the difference between the carb and the shape of the inlet mouth, so I made my own gas-flowed phenolic carb spacer. I also like the idea of a bit of heat insulation!
I paid £8 for a 1/2" thick chunk off ebag, roughed it out with a fretsaw then got the Dremmel on it for an hour or so til it packed in then stuck the little sanding drum in my pillar drill. Sorted :D

Very nice Paul.......What was the issue with the metal spacer, did it have a lip or just not give a 100% free run of air to the inlet?

Could you not of worked on the metal?
Just interested in why you went this route?

So when you gona do a production run.............. :D

Well I was making the spacer anyway then I realised the mouth of the inlet was way bigger than the carb. I can't shrink the inlet or make the carb bigger so I used the spacer to blend between the two shapes as best I could.
I will take the manifold off at some point and clean up the inside a bit.

That inlet was a nightmare to seal - one time it was sucking air/oil out of th valley.

It was a bugger to track down, but the "Red Arrows" impression at speed was the initial clue.... Make sure you get a good gasket seal if you lift the manifold...........

Thanks for the warning Pete, I think I'll leave that alone then..

Car is off the axle stands at last!
Carb on and plumbed in, just waiting on a pressure gauge adaptor and a ballast resistor and its fire-up time :D

Right, just for Dunc... ;)

My fuel pressure gauge finally arrived on a slow boat from China... that's fitted.
I also picked up a universal ballast resistor (another of China's finest) which looks far better made than the Yank crap I had before which bust in half!
Too late to fire up tonight but tomorrow will be 1st start-up this year :thumbright:
