Here's a cool gig! I have been in contact with Sound Editor Michael Maroussas who is recording different car's engines, on song, no silencers fror an upcoming movie. They are London based, but were going to hire Millbrook Test Centre near Milton Keynes for the recordings. I put the 'Cab up as a possible but the expenses are coming in a bit high for them, what with it being a 200 mile round trip. Can anyone a bit closer to MK do the gig this Thursday? Or they can come to you in the London area if you have a suitable place to uncork yer motor and drive fast near where you are. KnightCharger with his electrically operated flaps would be ideal, I'd think? Anyone interested please ring Michael on 07879622723 tonight if possible. Bit more advance warning than we are used to!!

Well it is all sorted. Me and Martin are going up on Thursday. Not sure it's gonna be any fun though. 2 mile banked circle with different laning for different neutral steer values etc. lane 4 seems the choice 60-100mph, neutral steer at 68mph......Still, someones' gotta be stars!!

Had a fine days hooning! Camera confiscated at the gate, then drive round to the 1 mile straight and take the exhausts off. There was a chopped up Lotus with a small block Fraud and a rocket motor. (rocket motor not working today, but he lit the bonfire at Crail with it this year.) The Apocalypse Camaro that runs in Pro ET was having a few moments on the damp track with slicks. Then it was Martin's turn and mighty fine it sounded! Then my turn. There were mics in the engine bay, under the car, in the car, on the floor of the car and a "tribble" type mic in his hand. 2 max rev hoons up and down the 1 mile, then some up and down shifts and up and down the revs. Then he put the "tribble" mid track and I had to max it out going past it. Went to 6300rpm which with my 30.7" diameter road tyres and with a trans ratio of 1.08 makes about 129.99mph On with the brakes and shoot past the others waiting at the end of the straight Scary stuff!! Then another up and down pass, changing gear at the "tribble" point. Crap drive home on the M1 with all them roadworks. Worked out I was getting around 20mpg going there and coming home! Better than me JEEP!! Great day out!

Looks like a cool day
....thrashed the knackers off 2 Lotus Carltons on the mile straight at Millbrook....Me and Terry Howarth of Goldrush Gasser fame,...I had been working up there for 8 weeks on Vauxhall new cars ride n Drive testing
Its a cold and wet place this time of year
...did you get a go on the Oval or the hill circuit, the Oval is berserk great fun, finding the Exit is the problem, regardless of speed
Got overtaken at 150 in the Carlton by a Jaguar 220....doin near 200
I must have done 400 laps of that at least ....great place.
ALL KILLER NO FILLER
Nostalgia, its not what it used to be.
Nice one!! I too spent a little bit of time at Milbrook back in the day! Part of my driver training for our Hot climate testing, I remember driving round in a Sierra Cosworth at 150 and coming to a rain cloud, Instructor looked more worried than I did when we hit it - but he knew more than I did, I was probably blissfully ignorant (or confident, prob the same thing!). The Alpine circuit was fun, as was the handling circuit.
But not as much fun as some honest Yankee V8 power, uncorked as well. I bet that was a fun day, good on you mate!!
