They are not British. It is a Dutch company based in France with French staff.
You can only call them between a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the afternoon. They took my money but refused to deliver on the gounds that I had to prove I have lived at my address for more than 3 months. But any proof I sent them was never good enough.

When they demanded I get my wife to send a written, dated and signed letter stating that I actually lived with her and not somewhere else, that was the last straw for me.

So I asked for my money back last Thursday and it just showed up on my account this morning.

I can only think they were messing me around because they didn't actually have the tyre size I wanted in stock despite them saying they do. It does seem funny that they had them and every other company in the UK that sells BFG tyres tells me it will be at least a month to get them.

I did actually try them but they don't do the BFGs.

The size I wanted was 245/70/16 but they have been impossible to find anywhere. So I have had to settle for some 255/70/16s my local ATS garage has managed to locate as two pairs in two different parts of the country.

I hope they fit without rubbing on anything.

The size on there now are 225/70/16 but the speedo reads really fast and these bigger tyres should sort that out as well as giving me about 6% better milage.

I know I ask alot of dumb questions but I dont understand how Tyres that have the same hight will affect the speedo? Also, how does wider Tyres give better milage than skinnier ones? Surely with the bigger contact area you will get more friction?

Yes you do
Tyres the same height wont effect you economy, but a 255/70/16 aint the same height as 245/70/16 , the '70' is the aspect ratio width to height, not the height itself

Wider tyre with more rolling resistance equals less MPG

The current 225s are 28 inches diameter. Less than that because they are so worn. The 255s are 30 inches diameter.

6% difference in speed per rpm.

Yes wider = more rolling resistance. But with full time 4 wheel drive it don't add up to much. Also 6% better mileage is only 1mpg around town. Maybe 1.5mpg on a run.

I may be a bit dim these days but i can still do sums.

Andyrob is correct (of course). The aspect ratio is the sidewall height as a percentage of width. On a 70 series tyre the sidewall height is 70% of the tyre width.

My Challenger tyres are a good example of how to play around with that. i wanted the tyres on the front to be the same diameter as the tyres on the rear.

So I fitted 245/60/15s to the front and 295/50/15s to the rear. So they are near as dammit the same diameter.

Oops. Should do this when I have had a couple of pints.

Dave, what are you doing with the old 225s, they are exactly what i need for my jago jeep (got new 16" steel wheels to make it look more 4X4).

thats a shame cos they aint cheap (or is it that im a tight sotherner )

Just had a look this morning and two of them are "OK" but I will need one of them as a spare.

Are these for your Grand Cherokee Rob? Don't you have 15" rims on them?

I fitted the largest tyre possible (without modifications) on mine which is 30x9.50 R15, averages 13 mpg around town and 17 mpg on a long journey.
