I've been looking at wiring diagrams al morning, but does anyone have a handy guide on how I can split off the indicator wiring from the tail/stop lights and run it to the reversing light bulb so I can get legal indicators?
Car is a 73 Roadrunner.

There's Bananarama! all to it miles
Just locate each indicator wire from both tail lights with a test meter and simply disconnect them, then disconnect the rev light wires and replace them with the ind wires ;)

The easiest way is to run a new wire from the brake light switch to the brake lights and then swap the brake light wires to the indicators and then you don't alter any of the original wires.
All the original wires to the rear of the car go through the steering column and headlight switch so it is best not to mess with them.

Or cheat and run wires from the fron indicator fed to the rear reverse lamps...easy

And ive not done this, but if you used a stop and tail bulb in an appropriate holder in the reverse light you could keep the reverse lights as well. :thumbright:

Hey good cheat Steve ;) ............ I'd consider using yellow LEDs inside the reverse light housing, they are super bright and show their colour thru most any lens :thumbright:

Those are mental, but so is the price. Orange bulbs and/or orange tape on the white lens for me.

5050 (bright) or 3528 (less bright) water proof strip

a soldering iron
a pair of scissors
your old bulb with the glass smashed off so you can solder to the filament support

I used yellow strip inside the reverse light and it looks good, the reverse light is still in place and working too.

Ran a new wire for the brake light as the indicator wiring is more complex that the brake wiring.

It passed MOT (so it must be legal)

Hi Jon, sounds similar to what Anton suggested. I can't remember as I'm not with the car, but is it the case that the one stock wire carries current for both indicators and brake circuit, hence running a separate wire for the brakes being a better solution?

Yeah you'll have to split the tail/brake lamp circuit from the indicator circuit or you'll still have flashing brake lamps!
Just run a new wire from the output side of the pedal switch under the dash to the rear of the car like Jon did :thumbright:

Just to return to this and bear with me for being thick...but looking at this diagram

http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/1973/73SatelliteB.JPG

...can I not just use the brown/green indicator wires and just re-direct them to the reversing lights (back up lights on diagram)as a feed as initially suggested by Allkiller/Ade? I ask this specifically as Anton and Jon seemed to thnk it necessary/correct to re-wire from the brake lamp switch and I cannot see why

If I'm missing something please feel free to school me :?

if you don't rewire from the brake switch, doesn't turning the indicator on switch off the brake light on that side?
think that's how it works on mine...
