I would certainly find out all you can about the legendary "Green Brick" also an A-Body circuit car, that Mopar Action Tech editor Rich Ehrenberg built years ago and raced with great effect on One Lap of America etc, IIRC he hit over 160mph on the straight at Willowbank or Road America. The best thing about the car was the ethos of using as many off the shelf Chrysler pieces as possible - based on the belief (subsequently proven!) that the basic Mopar suspension design was extremely capable and can be made to handle very well without major reconfiguration.

It was street legal as well so looks like you are going further than him but he wrote the book on a lot of what makes these cars handle well.
You could check out one of our members, Roger, he runs a company called Monkfish Racing located in Buckinghamshire, they specialise in chassis set up and modification, really know their stuff on Mopars
Hi Daniel welcome fairly new myself the info offered by these guys is top notch spoke to you yesterday about parts for my daughters 1965 Barracuda will be intouch cheers Clive.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I will keep you posted on the project. A lot of you have already been in touch with parts and or advice which is really appreciated. As this is an FIA car it will have to remain largely stock. The suspension must be stock although springs and shocks are free. We have about 15 years experience building racing cars. If you look at our website you can see that building race cars from unlikely vehicles is a bit of a specialty for us. We must run the 273ci engine that the car came with although we are allowed headers and camshafts are free. Thanks again,
Welcome,what an interesting project
It appears that your premises are very close to my mate Bob,he lives on the same road and until recently was running a steam roller.

Yes I've corresponded with him a few times over the years - if you have a serious question he'll usually answer. He also has an interest for the unusual, and I think even had some involvement in a rally A-Body barracuda over here in EU. So Daniel if you contacted him I'm pretty sure he would be interested in your project and may have some good connections or advice for you on A-Body specifics.
There are some pretty simple things you can do to make a big difference. Very high on your list should be reinforcing the steering box mounts, there is a lot of flex there that affects steering feel and accuracy....
