Used to be some illegal racing on the North Circ at Finchley, where the Sainsbury's is set back from the road.
Race from the light just passed the railway bridges back towards where Sainsburys is would have been around 80/81
Les Szabo and the Pollen brother were often there...good fun money changin hand s too :thumbright:

There was also regular racing on at Northolt, not far from the Polish war memorial...I used to go there after the Harrow "Cruise" and it was superb...there was some pretty hot stuff there on a regular basis including a Camaro called Dollar Gobbler, which was quite nippy.

It was long service road that was lit and built for some sort of development, which was held up for some reason or another, so it was this long road to nowhere...the perfect drag strip.

The police even used to turn up now and again "to keep an eye on things" that was until a geezer decided to race his Kwak and binned it...that put an end to that, if I remember rightly.

Jim Wilson is bound to know! :thumbright:

I always thought that Dave Rose`s race car was an original Hemi car. Was he telling me porkies way back in the 70`s ?????

Pretty sure it's not an original hemi car. I last saw it in the early '80's it was orange then, got stuffed into the barrier at Garys picnic. Never seen it since. Used to have the Sox & Martin aluminium oil pan off it, and the 10x15 ET wheels were on my truck for a while...

The guy who owned the car in the 80's was James Lee from from Ottershaw in Surrey it was the first Quick car i ever had a ride in, started a 25 year 7 mopar habit I've just relapsed into. he sold the car about a year ago now painted a "panther pink"ish colour with center line wheels.
Shortly after it tuned up on eurodragster, anyone seen it since
