Just watched it. I dont know, have mixed feelings after that, a childhood hero in poor health struggling for centre stage to the end. :(

He came over as a miserable old git. Might have been the illness doing that. :(

I switched over as I didn't like seeing a childhood hero so broken down. Sad, but inevitable. :(

watched most of evel, felt hammond was slowly loosing respect for the man who was his hero,
was sad ,it also seemed to bring back to him, what he recently put his family through as well, not a good time to interview some one that ill,who is probably aware of his lack of time left on this planet and is reliving what he has put his family through over the years, and trying to deal with the guilt of that,
not an easy programme to watch i dont think!

Nope.
Those of us who were around at the time will tell you he was a very violent, arrogant man right from his youth. There were several documentaries and news stories about him during the late 60s and early 70s. There was even a film made about his life. Although he made sure it was a squeaky clean version of events.
He was always in trouble with the law before he was famous. I seem to remember he was involved in a robbery? I might be mistaken about that.
He could start an argument with a mirror. He pee'd off almost everyone he ever met. Including fans.

He was never a nice man. Always came over on TV as a big mouth full of poo. My parents couldn't understand why I wanted to watch anything to do with him.
There is only one thing worse than a Republican. And that is a uneducated lower class Republican because they are the most dangerous.

Despite all his flaws he was one hell of a showman. You can't take that away from him. Most of us here will pass away and be forgotten. He not only had his day but he also left his mark in history and legend forever.

I heard he beat a reporter up only a few years ago over something that had been quoted about him in the press and that he was being done for gbh.

Not just one robbery Dave but a string of 'em across several States until one of his gang was shot dead! This turned him around and started him on the stunt career that we know and love.

Can't remember the name of the guy but a friend of his wrote a book about him at the height of his fame, exposing the womanising, wife-beating, bank robbing side of him he'd hoped to keep hidden from the public eye.
Evel thanked him by hunting him down and breaking a few of his bones with a baseball bat. Evel was jailed for GBH, pretty much ended his career.
He drank the next 10 or 15 years away in bankrupt obscurity until the fad of 'whatever happend to...' got round to him and hey!
All is forgiven! We love him again
