Best Bass players you have seen....

Lets start a new thread and see if it can get hijacked with a car-based theme

This thread has got to be about bass players YOU have seen LIVE.

I guess from a technical perspective, the best I have seen are probably John Entwistle and Roger Glover. Not Sting

I have not seen Level 42 so can't comment, thanks god.........

In terms of "Entertaining", I would go with Phil Lynott, but in terms of presence, it's got to be Lemmy. Not technically clever, but by god there's some power and energy there!!!

I await your suggestions... I am sure the Twinsters will chip in here........

I always loved the way James Dewar played bass and vocals for Robin Trower,

so on a car theme , R/T is really cool,

Geddy Lee and Chris Squire are probably the best bass players I have seen live. Can't be doing with that slap bass malarky so Mark King does nowt for me.

Best I have seen, without any question of a doubt has got to be Mr King. Probably around 20 times in the last 20 years and did again just before Christmas. Not that I particularly like Level 42 (post 1984 anyway) but from a technical perspective is up there with the best

One guy that I haven't seen, but would love to is Louis Johnson. Very different style and an absolute animal. I could list loads....

Louis Johnson is my fav nowaday's. See, I like listerning to Blues Rock/Blues etc, but from a bassist perspective it get's a bit boring IMO...

But when I practice, I play slap and funk licks as they are fun and in general require more skill. That's not to say Rock bassist's do not have skill - far from it

Check out Steve Harris out of Iron Maiden - I challenge anyone to play as he does with just 2 fingers lol!
