Talking of Living Colour, Doug Wimbish is prob the best bassist i've seen live in recent times.

Saw Jack Bruce last year with Robin Trower but wasnt too impressed TBH - much prefer RT with his regular band, and Davey P back on vocals.

Long time since I saw Primus too... whenever they came over to support Rush... '92 i think. Would prob be going this time round, but got tickets for The Black Crowes on the same date.

Not seen Flea (Chili Peppers) mentioned yet? He's always up there in the polls... rightly so IMHO.

My favourite bass player has to be Hookey although I don't think he is the best, I just love his effortless coolness.
Then Herbie Flowers, remember the bass line in Walk on the wild side,
Sting should get a mention, early Police and Cherry Vanilla stuff was very bass line inspired. Gary Tallent, the Boss's Bass player is very good.
Trevor Bolder was a very solid Spider and Steve Curry from the original 3 peice T.Rex. Paul Simmenon bot better and better and Matlock from the Pistols held everything together. Agree about Lynot he never let you down.
However for me the rythem section of Fleetwood Mac is unbeatable so, John Macvie......me

Hookey I have not heard of although agree that Sting is very good.

I think 'best' is possibly the wrong to desribe these artist's. What's best, Apples or Bananna's?? Favourite bassist's maybe

Its an image thing....yes the band has a lead singer and lead guitarist

but he plays his bass like its lead bass and the band don't exist
