Cheers Pete, I'm not as old as Bob I'll have you know...in fact my favourite guitarist live (okay not a bassist) was good old Mick Box of Uriah Heap, but that was probably before your time...

Neil Murray- Whitesnake- one of the very best. You have to team them up with the drummer, him and Ian Paice, without doubt the best rhythm section bar none-just my opinion Don't take my word for it! check them out

Only decent Bass is a Double Bass 8-) . Rockabilly/ Hillbillys my thing so im biased towards em. Loads of great players . Marshall lytle from the Comets is about as good as you can get.

i,m with you chip on rockabilly and double bass as i play double bass, when using the right strings and pre amp system its a sound hard to beat but then thats down to our own personal taste ;) i like electric bass but doesnt sound as good in rockabilly but great in other styles of music where a double bass wouldnt :thumbright:
keep it mopar !

Yep agree with you there ,on all points. A Rockabilly band with electric Bass turns em instantly into a Ted band for me. Strange ,i played a bit of Double Bass in the 80s, Bri Wood ,he of nasty Green Super Bee also dabbles aswell.

Again - probably not 'one of the best', but a personal fave - Jean-Jacques Burnel, especially on early stuff & Walk on by. First saw the Stranglers at Barbarellas - Birmingham 1977 & last seen at the o2 Academy - Birmingham last year. Still got the same sound.
Also agree with the Entwistle votes - but never saw him. Fist time seeing the who was at the 'Killing Cancer' concert earlier this year, so only the 2 members left......
