A 727 Question on R&S

Post by Guy »

Any of our gearbox people able to answer this, I know I cant
Ok, so I bought a 318 V8 mopar with a 727 torqueflite auto box. However, the box turns out to be an A727 box.......previously had a transfer box on it as was in an off road 4x4 therefore it doesn't have the tapered tail end piece that should mate to it and have a fitting for a drive shaft, it has a short piece that doesn't taper that should then have the transfer box bolted to it.
Does anybody know if you can simply change the piece thats on it for the tapered piece or am I buggered!
Just want it to be rear wheel drive to put in my ford truck project!

It can be done but will need the complete output shaft & tailshaft housing, it's a complete teardown as well IIRC (it has been 15 years since I last rebuilt one)
You can't have too much power, only a lack of traction!

A 727 is a bit OTT for a 318 anyway.
